Acceptable Use Policy
Effective February 6, 2026
1. Introduction
This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") governs your use of ekstrakt ("the Service") and applies to all users, including those on free trials and paid subscription plans. This AUP is part of and supplements our Terms of Service.
The purpose of this policy is to ensure a fair, reliable, and high-quality experience for all users while maintaining the sustainability of the Service.
2. Service Usage Guidelines
2.1 Reasonable Use
Our paid subscription plans provide extensive access to ekstrakt's summarization features. However, all plans are subject to reasonable usage to ensure service quality and availability for all users.
We apply rate limits as a system protection measure to maintain performance and reliability. These limits are designed to accommodate normal individual usage patterns and should not affect typical use of the Service.
2.2 Usage Reviews
If an individual user's consumption significantly exceeds typical usage patterns, or if it results in disproportionate infrastructure costs relative to other users, we may:
- Contact you to discuss your usage and explore possible solutions
- Recommend an alternative plan or arrangement based on your actual needs
- Temporarily adjust your access while we assess a sustainable path forward
We are committed to transparency and will always communicate with you before taking any action related to usage reviews.
3. Prohibited Activities
To maintain service integrity and protect all users, the following activities are prohibited:
3.1 Automated and Excessive Access
- Using scripts, bots, crawlers, or other automation tools to access the Service
- Systematically scraping or extracting data from the Service
- Sending requests at a rate that exceeds reasonable human usage
- Circumventing or attempting to circumvent rate limits or other technical restrictions
3.2 Harmful Activities
- Interfering with or disrupting the Service, servers, or networks
- Attempting to probe, scan, or test vulnerabilities of the Service or its infrastructure
- Introducing malware, viruses, or other harmful code
- Attempting to gain unauthorized access to any part of the Service or related systems
3.3 Content and Legal Violations
- Processing content that infringes on intellectual property rights
- Using the Service for any illegal, fraudulent, or deceptive purposes
- Violating any applicable laws or regulations through your use of the Service
4. Enforcement
4.1 Graduated Response
When we identify a potential violation of this policy, we will generally follow a graduated approach:
- Notification: We will contact you to inform you of the issue and request corrective action
- Usage Review: We may review your account activity to understand the scope and nature of the violation
- Temporary Suspension: If the issue persists or is significant, we may temporarily restrict your access while we work toward a resolution
- Termination: For repeated or severe violations, we may terminate your account in accordance with our Terms of Service
4.2 Severe Violations
We reserve the right to take immediate action, including suspension or termination without prior notice, in cases of severe violations that pose a threat to the security, integrity, or availability of the Service, or that cause harm to other users. This right is consistent with Section 11 of our Terms of Service.
5. Reporting Violations
If you become aware of any activity that violates this policy, please report it to support@ekstrakt.app. We take all reports seriously and will investigate promptly.
